MATHEMATICS - MY FAVOURITE SUBJECT

Mathematics is one of the oldest subjects in the history of humanity. It is an interesting game of numbers. Humanity would never have advanced to such an extent as it is now if it weren’t for mathematics. Mathematics is a fascinating subject for people of all ages. Without the aid of Mathematics, our daily lives would have been very very intricate and complicated.

Mathematics is a very vast subject with no boundaries. It is branched into three main streams - Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry. Arithmetic deals with numbers and powers. Algebra deals with variables and constants. Geometry deals with shapes. These three streams are further classified and are further grouped.

Mathematics is very very essential and vital in fields like Engineering and Space Sciences. Even if a minute calculating error is made while constructing a house or designing a rocket, the entire project may go devastated. So Mathematics is as dangerous as it is useful. So Mathematics is a subject which has to be dealt very carefully with.

I like mathematics because I find it simple and understandable when compared to other subjects like French, Civics and Geography. Mathematics is my favorite subject as it is all about understanding the concepts. Once you are thorough with the concepts you can solve any mathematical problem. I love mathematics because I aspire to become an Engineer when I grow up and Mathematics is the prime factor for Engineering. I love to solve mathematical problems. Solving mathematical problems gives me relief when I’m stressed out. Mathematics is one of the subjects in which one can obtain full marks which I would like to call “out of out”.

India- the nation which I would proudly like to call as my motherland has produced great mathematicians like Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, Brahmaguptha and many more. Without the discovery of zero by the legendary Indian mathematician and astronomer Aryabhatta, we would never have had numbers up to infinity.

Mathematics has always been my favorite subject and I too would like to become a proud Indian and Mathematician{Engineer} like Aryabhatta.

Sun Halo Today

Sun Halo rings

Have you ever looked up and noticed that there’s a big ring around the Sun? These rings are caused by ice crystals within thin cirrus clouds, and there several different kinds of sun rings you can see depending on the weather conditions.

One of the most common ones is called a 22° halo. They get this name because the ring is located 22 degrees away from the Sun itself. Both the Sun and the Moon block a 1/2 degree region of the sky at a time, so the ring around the Sun is about 44 times larger than the Sun itself.

Why do you get a ring at exactly 22°? The ring is formed because of the ice crystals suspended in the cirrus clouds. If you could look at the crystals under the microscope, you would see that they’re hexagonal in shape, and act as prisms for the Sun’s light. As light passes through the two sides of the prism, it’s deviated by exactly 22°. Since the ice crystals are jumbled up randomly in the sky, most of the light is deflected away. But from every position you’re always able to see the deflected light from some of the crystals in the sky. And this is why you see the bright ring around the Sun.

Confidence level

Story told by a man which is most frightening yet thought-provoking experiences of his life.

He had been on a long flight. The first warning of the approaching problems came when the sign on the airplane flashed on: "Fasten your seat belts."

Then, after a while, a calm voice said, "We shall not be serving the beverages at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence. Please be sure yourseat belt is fastened."

As he looked around the aircraft, it became obvious that many of the passengers were becoming apprehensive. Later, the voice of the announcer said, "We are so sorry that we are unable to serve the meal at this time. The turbulence is still ahead of us."

And then the storm broke. The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above the roar of the engines. Lightening lit up the darkening skies and within moments that great plane was like a cork tossed around on a celestial ocean. One momentthe airplane was lifted on terrific currents of air; the next, it dropped as if it were about to crash.

The man confessed that he shared the discomfort and fear of those around him. He said, "As I looked around the plane, I could see that nearly allthe passengers were upset and alarmed. Some were praying.

The future seemed ominous and many were wondering if they would make it through the storm. And then, I suddenly saw a girl to whom the storm meant nothing. She had tucked her feet beneath her as she sat on her seat and was reading a book.

Everything within her small world was calm and orderly. Sometimes she closed her eyes, then she would read again; then she would straighten her legs, but worry and fear were not in her world. When the plane was being buffeted by the terrible storm, when it lurched this way and that, as it rose and fell with frightening severity, when all the adults were scared half to death, that marvelous child was completely composed and unafraid."

The man could hardly believe his eyes. It was not surprising therefore, that when the plane finally reached its destination and allthe passengers were hurrying to disembark, he lingered to speak to the girl whom he had watched for such a long time.

Having commented about the storm and behavior of the plane, he asked why she had not been afraid.

The sweet child replied,

"Sir, my Dad is the pilot and he is taking me home."

when you are sure of your self, your confident level is steady and you are never shaky you do the things calmly and successfully.

Grow Green, Green Going...

The need of the hour is to plant as many saplings as you can around your house, sides of avenues, roadsides, parks and where ever possible to make a healthy climate around us.
Marching towards a hi-tech infrastructure of roads and buildings, the Govt. has initiated cutting trees alongside the NH roads. One such seriously affected is NH 209 which connects Gudalur in Nilgiris and Nagapattinam.
The trees alongside the road stretching from Gounder Mills towards Mettupalayam has already suffered life down, even the roots are also plucked with an earth moving machine which seems to be a monster for the past.
Those who take a regular trip to Mettupalayam will hereafter suffer a direct sunlight and thirst for a shade to cover.
Tough Going.
In future trees and shades has to be found only in hilly areas, for those in coimbatore, have to travel for 80 Km, probably to nilgiris to show the forthcoming generation to know whereabouts of trees.

Enriching the infrastructure is laudable. But at the cost of (?).

Ok. Past is past... Get ready to face the future.
I always remember.. "And miles to go..."
